Selena Gomez isn’t the only Disney queen shredding away any form of innocence she has left, but then again, Demi Lovato has always been a bit more of the “controversial” queen anyway. After teasing the super hot cover art and a very intriguing video teaser over the weekend, Demetria Devonne Lovato officially makes her return with “Cool For The Summer,” the lead single off her upcoming fifth studio album, which is the follow-up to her 2013 self-titled LP (her most successful one yet).
The Max Martin-produced synth-pop killer is an instant and undeniable earworm loaded with a thumbing dance beat, infectiously light-hearted electro melodies, and a slight indie-pop groove that recalls all sorts of Katy Perry/Bonnie Mckee/Ke$ha greatness. “Take me down into your paradise/ Don’t be scared cause I’m your body type/ Just something that we wanna try/ Cause you and I/ We’re cool for the summer,” Demi declares alongside a hard-hitting electro drop. A refreshing and unexpected change of pace, she sounds sexy, “cool”, and confident – I’m totally here for it. COME THRU DEMETRIA!
“Cool For The Summer” will officially be released tomorrow (July 1) – Stay tuned!
