In January, I introduced Arkansas-bred “swamp pop” diva Ivy Levan and her ridiculously good single, “Biscuit.”
Well she’s finally given us more to work with this week: “27 Club,” a song crafted by producer of the year, Diplo. But don’t be fooled by the title: For a song called “27 Club,” it’s an awfully somber affair. “I rather burn out then spend my life waiting/ I want to go down, down in history/ Everybody going to know me when I do, so I don’t give a damn if I survive/ I rather burn out then spend my life waiting,” Ivy sings on the liberating chorus, backed by a hard-hitting percussion drum and bass production. It’s giving me Paloma Faith meets Fergie vibes so I’m totally here for it.
That’s not all though, alongside the premiere of “27 Club,” Ivy has finally revealed the official artwork and tracklist for her upcoming full-length debut studio album No Good, which is set to hit stores on August 7th via Cherrytree/Interscope Records – Check it all out below!
