The “Latch” dream team have done it again!
That’s right. Disclosure have reunited with Grammy-winning songwriter Jimmy Napes and their former collaborator Sam Smith on “Omen,” the brand new single off the UK duo’s sophomore LP Caracal (due out September 25)! All three acts were blasted into super stardom after “Latch” went triple platinum so the idea to join forces again for a round two is, quite simply, a no-brainer.
“Omen,” as expected, is a infectiously catchy throbber that in a lot of ways is similar to “Latch” with its sleek 90’s House pulsations, garage-leaning wobbles, full-bodied vocals, and addictive melody. And although the familiarities are clearly there, the song still manages to play out like a fresh, mature, and natural progression for the talented troupe. “My mind would ruin my heart/ I didn’t pay attention to the light in the dark/ It left me torn apart/ But now I see your tears as an omen/ Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh, Oh-Oh-Oh omen,” Sam sweetly croons above the buoyant beats.
It’s a another solid exchange between the trio, I am very pleased. What do you guys think?
