Icona Pop Offer Up More Summertime Vibes with ‘First Time’ & ‘Clap Snap’!

Following the May release of their horn-heavy “Emergency,” Icona Pop are already back at it with even more summertime vibes to brighten up your Monday! Here we have the two remaining tracks from their new Emergency EP: “First Time” and “Clap Snap“!

Much like the title track, “First Time” and “Clap Snap” finds the Swedish duo toying with a more mature and adventurous sound. The suitably-titled “First Time,” produced by Ricky Reed aka Wallpaper, has them revisiting the first track they ever wrote together. “The first time we got high/ The first time we got drunk/ The first time we fell in love/ And things will never be the same, and that’s okay, the girls chant on-top of a skittering beat.

“The song has a whole new meaning to it now, looking back and reflecting on how far we’ve come since those early days when we were broke and didn’t have a clue what we were doing or where we were going!” Aino Jawo expressed. “It’s such a special song to us and really is a celebration of friendship, whether it’s with your boyfriend or girlfriend or best friend,” Caroline Hjelt added. “We just wanted to capture that feeling again in a song and remind ourselves how important it is to never forget those special early days when you first meet someone.”

Then there’s “Clap Snap,” a completely unexpected pop banger that sees the twosome putting their very own funky twist on the classic “Clap Song.” It’s the kind of song that shouldn’t work but these two pull it off effortlessly. It’s true to them without sounding totally familiar – LOVE!
