Between “Right Here,” “Hold My Hand” and “Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself,” Jess Glynne has already given us plenty of reason to believe that her upcoming debut studio album, I Cry When I Laugh, will be one of the best pop records of 2015.
Today, the UK powerhouse dropped “Why Me” — her latest grat track from the anticipated LP (via Wonderland), due out August 14th in the UK and September 11th in the U.S — and it’s only further proof that Jess Glynne is doing everything right. The slayage is real.
The song is pure heartbreak, throbbing perfection, filled out by a hard-hitting percussion pulse. “So tell me why me?/ I didn’t even know/ Why me?/ You left me all alone/ So cold So cold,” she achingly sings alongside choir-tinged harmonies. This feels and sounds like heaven to me so go grab a few tissues and report to a safe space – Jess is taking us to church!
