Last month, Queen of Swede Pop aka Robyn introduced the world to La Bagatelle Magique – her new project featuring touring keyboardist Markus Jägerstedt and the late producer Christian Falk – with the release of their killer debut single “Love Is Free“!
This week, the band is back and ready to share even more dance-pop perfection with us in the form of a new track titled “Set Me Free“! The song steps away from the wild array of heavy house basslines that we got from “Love Is Free,” and instead offers up a classic Body Talk-esque soundscape in a lot of ways: Hypnotic dance pulsations, spacey effects, heavenly strings and repetitive hooks that capture the very essence of pop euphoria. And yet, it still sounds like something totally new. “You know you got to set me free, you know you got to set me free,” Robyn declares throughout the track. It’s straightforward, additively repetitive dance floor-thumper and I’m completely hooked!
