Hurts Make Sweet Disco Magic With Ariel Rechtshaid On ‘Lights’!

Hurts are kings in the art-form that is gloomy melodramatic pop, we know this: From “Wonderful Life” to “Better Than Love” to “Miracle,” they’ve more than proven capable of supplying undeniably dark and haunting earworms time and time again. We love them for it.

But what happens when the English duo decides to team up with producer and writer Ariel Rechtshaid, the mastermind behind among dozens of pop masterpieces from Kylie Minogue, HAIM, Brandon Flowers, Little Boots, Sky Ferreira, and Carly Rae Jepsen?

Well silky sweet greatness happens…that’s what! Drifting far far away from the sound of their previous singles “Some Kind Of Heaven” and “Rolling Stone“, “Lights” – their latest offering from their upcoming album Surrender (due out October 9th) – sees the duo unexpectedly delivering a sound unlike anything the guys have ever done before. It’s an ultra smooth and sensual ’80’s-tinged production that makes for some major late night baby makin’ music (like legit, my body is ready). “Turn up the lights/ I just wanna see you dancing/ I just wanna see you/ Turn up the lights/ I just wanna see you dancing,” Theo Hutchcraft sings on the disco-inflected chorus. WHAT A FUCKING TRIP – DISCO HEAVEN!

Pre-order Hurts’ third studio album Surrender on iTunes UK and receive “Lights” now!
